Is Little Dinosaurs good for kids? Age and difficulty

Everyone has a baby dinosaur that is hungry for leaves, berries, worms or bugs. One player rolls the die for the whole table, and anyone whose dinosaur wants that food takes a token. Feed your dinosaur all it asks for and it grows to the next card; the first to grow a full-size dinosaur wins.

What age is Little Dinosaurs for?

Box says 3+

We suggest 3+ with an adult helping, 4+ on their own.

A turn is roll the die and take a food token if your dinosaur's meadow shows what came up. Everyone checks their own meadow on every roll, there are no choices and no reading, and nobody can take anything from anyone else. A 3 year old can play with an adult checking the symbols, and a 4 year old can play alone.

  • Easy to learn
  • 2 to 4 players
  • 10 minutes
  • About 2 minutes to set up (our estimate)
  • Competitive

No direct conflict between players. Content: Friendly baby dinosaurs hatch and grow by eating leaves, berries, worms and bugs. Nothing scary.

Where do these facts come from?

What else could you try?

  • Animal Upon Animal: Stack wooden animals on a wobbly pile and be the first to run out.
  • Dragomino: Match landscapes, collect eggs and hope they hatch into dragons.
  • Dragon's Breath: Lift the ice rings and see which sparkling stones fall your way.
  • Forest Festival: Peek at a show card, then cheer for the animals you remember.
